Spreadshirt trennt sich von Chefin Jana Eggers

Wie oft darf ein VC-finanziertes Startup seine Ziele verfehlen? Erstaunlich viel Geduld hatten die Investoren mit Spreadshirt-Chefin Jana Eggers. Vor einem Jahr hatte sie schon den Finanzchef ausgetauscht. Jetzt gibt sie selber ihren Rückzug bekannt:

"Ich werde Spreadshirt verlassen. Für einen Übergangszeitraum bleibe ich weiterhin CEO und unser Aufsichtsrat sucht auf internationaler Ebene nach einem Nachfolger.

Die vier Jahre als Teil des Spreadshirt-Vorstandes und die drei Jahre als CEO waren eine großartige und ereignisreiche Zeit, in der das Unternehmen fast doppelt so groß geworden ist."

Spreadshirt blieb in den Jahren 2008 und 2009 zum Teil erheblich unter den Wachstumszielen und musste 2009 Mitarbeiter entlassen. Anfang August hatte Spreadshirt eine außerordentliche Hauptversammlung, kurz davor gabs noch ein Porträt in der Süddeutschen Zeitung. Während Jana Eggers das Unternehmen verlässt, wird Ex-Tesco-Manager Philip Rooke in den Vorstand berufen.

Corrections:
1) Spreadshirt has over-performed against plan each month in 2010, including on profitability.

2) Spreadshirt did not dismiss employees in 2008.

3) The Vorstand, including the CEO, do not report to the shareholders, but to the Aufsichtsrat. A außerordentliche Hauptversammlung is a meeting of the shareholders.

4) The Süddeutschen Zeitung portrait was completed months ago, but only ran recently.

2) Spreadshirt dismissed employees in the beginning of 2009 and in the beginning of 2010 because of the results in the years 2008 and 2009. I will correct this.

Thanks for the kind words, Jochen. I've always appreciated Exciting Commerce and what you do for the industry. And I appreciate that you give the chance to respond too.

On #2, the dismissals were all in 2009. They were a reaction to the change in the economy, which made us plan more conservatively (early 2009), and due to results (late 2009 -- we did not plan conservatively enough).

On #3, the article implied that the EGM and this are related. An EGM does not deal with this, whether it is the same people or not. (They would only need to call an AR meeting.) The three people cited do overlap between the two, but others don't. There are additional shareholders and additional AR members without overlap.
