Wo steht Magento gut zwei Jahre nach dem Start? - Roman Zenner, der gerade als Co-Autor das neue Magento-Handbuch für Entwickler mitherausgebracht hat, hat kürzlich mal wieder eine durchaus kritische Zwischenbilanz gezogen:
"One thing is for sure: Magento has reached reality. Right now, agencies and developers around the world put this software to the test, building different-sized projects on the basis of the application."
Allerdings gibt es momentan nicht annähernd genügend Entwickler, um den Bedarf zu decken, schreibt er ("Summer 2010: The State of Magento"):
"Now that the name Magento seems to be in everyone’s head, there is an increasing demand for professionals able to implement individual functionalities.
This sounds like a technology goldrush, and in some respects it actually is. The problem is, however, that there are not enough developers who could satisfy this demand."

In einem Kommentar zum Beitrag beschreibt Kara Heinrichs, die neue Schulungsverantwortliche, dass Magento gerade an entsprechenden Trainingsprogrammen arbeitet, die schneller mehr Leute mit Magento vertraut machen sollen.
